thanks & mother’s day giveaway

Thank you for all your help with the choices I have ahead of me. Please keep the advice coming, because I still am unsure of so many things!!

To clear a few things up on the names, Gigi is pronounced just like the letters GG. Elia is like the beginning of Ellie and the ending of Sophia. Gia is like the letter G followed by the short /u/sound. And Gracie I think is self explanatory. I have created a poll on the side bar, so you can be anonymously honest and vote on which one you like best if you would like to. Thanks for the input you have given me so far…it has really helped ease my mind with the possible names we have chose.

Ok…now for Mother’s Day. Last year Mother’s Day was extremely difficult. It had only been 2 weeks and one day since I had the girls. I think I was numb. I did the usual things we always do, but just felt empty inside. We did add one more thing to the day and that was a visit to the cemetery, I never thought I would be visiting a cemetery on Mother’s Day to be with my children. How quickly life can change. I really don’t know how I managed to even get out of bed and function on last year, but I did. This year is different. The pain isn’t as raw. It still hurts to know that all my children aren’t here to celebrate this special day with me, but I think I am accepting it…kind of. I feel caught in limbo. Caught between missing Sophia & Ellie and all the things we would be doing with them right now and between accepting this new baby into our lives. It is a weird position to be in and I don’t really know how to describe it. It is almost like my heart is in two different places, still grieving for the ones I am missing and yet so full of love for the one I am going to meet soon.

I hope you all have a peaceful Mother’s Day. I hope you are recognized for the wonderful mothers you are to all of your children, whether they are here on Earth or soaring in the sky. To let you know that I appreciate you as the mother you are and the friend you have been to be, I am doing a giveaway. Someone IRL asked me to make a necklace for her. She has experienced losses of her own and wanted something to honor those lives. This heart is stamped with a line from a poem written by e.e. cummings:

i carry your heart

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

I think this poem beautifully describes what many of us who have lost children feel. Our babies are with us wherever we go. What we do, they do, what we feel, they feel…we carry them anywhere we go.

  1. I loved Gigi Elia before I realized that Elia was a combination of Sophia and Ellie but now I love it even more! My nickname for my Corinne Ellery is Ellie :) I may have already told you that but I'm not sure. Thank you for sharing the E.E. Cummings poem... it has so much more meaning to me now.
Please enter me in your giveaway.
Wishing you a gentle mother's day! (((HUGS)))

  2. I agree, I didn't even piece together what Elia meant - but it's just lovely. I voted for "Gigi Elia." It is beautiful!

  3. I think the name is gorgeous! And as a L & D nurse, I see all the "new" names everyone is using to name their kids. And I haven't heard this one hardly at all! (at least in Dallas!)

The necklace is gorgeous, if I don't win it, I might have to buy one anyway! ;)

  7. I voted on the name, but I'm thinking that Elia Grace sounds great. It's such a nice name, that I think it would be a shame to put it as a middle name and not use it always. :)

The necklace s really nice too. I love the Poem. I am going to try and catch up on your blog today. Computer issues are making it difficult to keep up with everyone (slow computer and doesn't want to type every letter I press. bleh)

  8. I voted for a different combination, maybe Gracie Elia or Elia Grace? I'm personally not a big fan of "G" names, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me at all lol

  9. I know the feeling of being torn in two directions. The first mother's day after Connor passed away was hard cuz I was grieving Connor, pregnant with Nikola and trying to bond with Adison (my stepson). I think I was more angry than anything that first mother's day. But I'm glad you have something to be happy about on mother's day now even though you will also be sad without your angels. It's all normal and ok. *hugs*

  11. If we are ever blessed with another baby (been trying for 2 years this month), we are planning on using Nate's middle name (Ryan) for that babies middle name (boy or girl). SO, I just love that you are doing the same thing. It really touches my heart and I just want to hug you!!!

I love the necklace and would love to have it!

    Hugs,
    Trisha

  16. Beautiful poem Tina. I am so with you about Mother's Day and how raw my grief was last year. I don't remember much of it really since I was deep in the fog. This year is more bittersweet, the sadness and the pain is still there, but I'm also able to appreciate the beauty around me, how precious my two kids are and life in general. I have accepted that life is not fair, and things just happen for NO reason.
Best wishes to the new addition to your famiy.
Happy Mother's Day to you too.

As for the name, Gigi Elia...you have my vote of confidence! Go with your heart and give this little girl the name that "speaks loudest to you" and it will be perfect!

  24. Well, I saw the new necklace on fb earlier, and I just got choked up. I recognized that line, but couldn't remember where from. I'm a poetry lover myself, and just think that this is one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen. Now, I think the middle name with that gorgeous explaination of Elia, is beyond beautiful. I think regardless of the first name as I adore them both, you go with Elia.

Missing my babies today and knowing you are missing Sophia and Ellie, but I know they are playing with all of our angel babies and wishing us happiness with the babies that we will soon hold in our arms!
